Summer camp in Bilgah

Summer camp on prevention of trafficking and safe migration for youth and teenagers supported by IOM

The summer camp training course for active youth and teenagers was organized by NGO “Azerbaijan Union of Children” from 20 to 26 June 2011 in Bilgah. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has supported this event in the framework of the project “Consolidating Awareness-Raising on Trafficking in Persons in Azerbaijan through Secondary School Education” funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The summer camp course brought together 30 participants aged between 12-16 from capital and several regions of Azerbaijan. The purpose was to capacitate them to subsequently disseminate information on trafficking prevention and safe migration among their peers in their own communities, in interaction with their teachers from local schools and other students.  The participants also acquired skills about leadership skills, teamwork, and resolution of conflict related situation, etc.
At the end of the summer camp, the participants designed a banner with their hand silhouettes illustrating their views about trafficking inside the silhouettes. All participants received certificates about completion of the summer camp course.
